Sell More In Less Time - Get Out Of Your DMs

Running a small business can take all our time. Stay smart and get OUT of DM - Here is how.

I have an embarrassing problem.

Let me tell you the story but before I do, these jam packed articles will go to your inbox if you click here.

Ok back to it.

I began running my current business ( number 4 yeah, it's a bit of an addiction ) 6 years ago.

It began as a coaching business working 1:1 with clients to now, scaling that offering by providing an online service.

I know a lot of people want to do that.

It makes sense, doesn't it?

You have a product or service.

You sell your offering at fairs, exhibitions, markets via family & friend referrals, or networking events.

You have dipped into the online world by setting up social media and are deep in the shitfest of DMs every hour talking to people who want to ask about your stuff, buy it, haggle for it, not buy it.

You are really busy nurturing your audience right?

It feels REALLY exhausting and you feel like you are doing nothing else, right?

This is MY problem...the one I mentioned when I started talking to you here first.

It really upsets me ( ok I don't cry like but it stays with me ) when I see people online NOT leaving a link or next step directions from their posts.

It makes me really sad.

I know I know it's a bit dramatic...but I just think about how much time and energy people are putting into this part of their business.

I know how difficult it is to post stuff online in the first place ( big step ) and then after all that effort not having anywhere for people to go except 'dm me'.

Don't get me wrong DM me for details is better than nothing but what does that create?

It creates a heavy admin shift of dealing with every Tom Dick and Harry dm-ing you about your work.

This catapults you into a love/hate relationship with social media.

So let's talk about the thing that will TAKE AWAY that heavy load and increase your revenue.

THE CTA...meh not another acronym I hear you mumble...WTF is a CTA?

C - CALL

T - TO

A - ACTION

Let's break this one down, shall we? ** to note I will use CTA for a lot but not all of this blog post...wanna know why?  Sign up here, it will be in an upcoming blog post **

( see what I am doing here? | it will make more sense in a minute)

So let's get back to this CTA business.

WHAT IS A CALL TO ACTION?

A call to action is you telling your target audience what to do after your marketing content.

Marketing content includes;

💥 social media,

💥 blog post,

💥 email,

💥 press,

💥 flyer,

💥 conversation at a market...yes this CTA thingy expands out to offline too.

When you are putting together a CTA, remember you are the director of your business.

You direct the steps needed for your business goals.

Direct your audience.

Do not assume they will instinctively know what to do.

In a nutshell:

You are guiding your audience through an imaginary journey and telling them where to go: read this, consider options, register, buy, subscribe, hit me in DM...

If your CTA says “Shop now”, your link needs to lead to your website shop.

If your CTA says “Sign up here”, clicking your link has to open the correct sign-up form.

Why is a good CTA on social media is important?

If you think about it, having a direct link or action plainly laid out for your audience is vital if you are going to make any headway with sales.

We browse on Instagram and Facebook for hours on end as consumers, viewers, curious humans, and of course, these platforms are designed to keep us glued to them. ( for another conversation!)

Think about that.

If you do not have any direct link or message to your audience, they will keep on scrolling, viewing, engaging on the platform.

Our job as business owners is to grab their attention, make a connection and get them OFF social or into a direct conversation with us in some form to nurture to hit business goals.

Let's start with a quick overview of CTA buttons Facebook and Instagram provide for you to really make all that content creation work for you.
